Smash vitaphobia

Image
Human minds are all too often distracted and polluted by phobias, fears so entrenched and exaggerated that they take the form of outright hatred. These fears are mostly of the Other, the not-Me whose very existence risks puncturing all the certainties and assumptions through which the insecure Me manages to keep afloat in the murky and turbulent waters of contemporary life. Inner doubts and insecurities are thrown outwards, their dark beam alighting on whatever surface is most readily available, and a fellow living subject is treated as nothing but a dead object, a scape-screen on to which our own deepest anxieties can be projected, externalized, neutralized. Here already we are in the realm of separation, a lost awareness of our shared belonging with all that lives outside our personal experience, a psychological retreat into the narrowest and shallowest levels of identity which are defined in terms of what, and who, they are not. But another kind of phobia is emerging today whi...

Fellow Kenyans, especially our youth, Generation Z

Image
Fellow Kenyans, especially our youth, Generation Z , This is my message today. The story of our nation is long and full of lessons. We cannot truly know who we are unless we learn from those who came before us. Our history did not begin today. It is rooted in the struggles, sacrifices, and dreams of previous generations. As Mzee Jomo Kenyatta wrote in Facing Mount Kenya , culture and leadership have always shaped the destiny of our people. Since the 1980s, political and social strategies have influenced our lives in ways many of us may not fully understand. Today, we see changes in family structures, cultural values, and political engagement. Some of these changes have strengthened us, but others have weakened the foundation that holds society together. When families break down and respect for elders fades, we create gaps that no government can fill. Women’s empowerment is vital. However, let us ensure that it is not misused for political gain. True empowerment means opportunities fo...

My simple message to Gen Z

Image
Before You March Forward, Look Back Generation Z, I have a message for you: You will never fully know who you are unless you understand where you came from. Our history is not just in textbooks—it’s the story of our families, our culture, and our nation. In the 1980s, strategies were laid that still shape Kenya today. By the year 2000, I was 12 years old, and I had already seen how politics, culture, and leadership influence society. Many of today’s challenges broken families, cultural erosion, political manipulation did not start yesterday. Women’s empowerment is important, but let’s ensure it is real empowerment, not a political tool. True equality should open doors, not divide us. Gen Z, you are smart and ambitious. But be careful. Don’t let politicians use you. Don’t lose the values that make us African respect, unity, and responsibility. Learn from history so you don’t repeat its mistakes. Kenya belongs to all of us. Let’s build it together. Be warned.

The history of Generation Z in Kenya

Image
The history of Generation Z in Kenya is deeply connected to events from the 1980s, and understanding this history is vital for shaping a better future. We cannot fully know who we are without learning from those who came before us. In his book Facing Mount Kenya, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta discusses the cultural foundation of the Kikuyu people and their role in Kenya’s leadership. Over time, political strategies evolved, especially from the early 1980s, and these decisions have influenced our current society in many ways. 70 % of the Genz generation has a history of every child with a different father from the same mother.Today, we see challenges such as weakened family structures, loss of cultural values, and political manipulation through Genz by a specific tribe called kikuyu in kenya. These are not issues for one community alone—they affect all of us as a nation. We must address them with wisdom and unity. I believe Generation Z needs deeper reflection on its values and choices. Let ...

SOCIAL AND EQUALITY TO ALL

SOCIAL AND EQUALITY TO ALL
My main agenda is adopting a Gramscian theoretical framework, the five parts of this volume focus on the various ways in which the political is discursively and materially realized in its dialogic co-constructions within the media, the economy, culture and identity, affect, and education. We focus at examining the power instantiations of sociolinguistic and semiotic practices in society from a variety of critical perspectives, this blog focus at how applied political linguists globally is responding to, and challenge, current discourses of issues such as militarism, nationalism, Islamophobia, sexism, racism and the free market, and suggests future directions. No peace, no unity, no coexistence hence all becomes vanity...! It's why the world is oval.
